Growth and Impact — Saving Water Helps Drive Down Costs

Over the last 6 months, Ecolab identified annual water savings of 120 million litres which equates to almost half a million dollars saved for its customers in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji (ANZ). These water-saving solutions save water, reduce carbon emissions and drive down costs; and while inflation is still stubbornly high, both sustainability and profitability matters.
Commenting on this, Paul Rawding, Ecolab's Senior Vice President for Australia, New Zealand and Fiji said, “By investing in the latest water management practices, harnessing the power of data and technology, and engaging in meaningful collaborations, our customers can not only meet their environmental targets but also improve their bottom line.”
Many manufacturers use large amounts of water in their processes – food processing as an example, uses up to 28%, according to Smart Watermark which makes it essential to regularly review water consumption. Additionally, water must be moved, cooled, heated and treated in order to be fit for commercial use, all of which requires energy and comes at a cost.
By 2030, Ecolab aims to help customers worldwide save the equivalent to the annual drinking water needs of 1 billion people. There are several ways that Ecolab is doing this, leading through innovation and technology:
- Ecolab leverages advanced data-driven insights and technologies to help businesses enhance operational efficiencies whilst safeguarding our planet's most vital resource. 3D TRASAR™ technology and ECOLAB3D™ is a secure cloud-based digital platform translating operating data into actionable insights to help manage performance, mitigate risk, and capture value for customers. It includes water conservation, energy saving, and cost reduction data, making it an essential tool in saving water.
- Ecolab recently released the Ecolab Watermark™ Study to measure the state of water stewardship across 15 countries worldwide, including in Australia.
